20 Things You Must Know About Item Upgrade
WoW Upgrades - The item upgrades Upgrader
Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the item level by +3. A random additional substat is also increased with every upgrade.
Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless it has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like the eth Titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the requirement to roll for a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item upgrader kit will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can be used to create Enchantments.
You can upgrade your equipment at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended to visit the upgrader once every couple of weeks to keep your equipment up-to-date.
The cost of upgrading will vary based on the current item level of the item being upgraded however, they will always be cheaper than purchasing new equipment from other sources. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest to ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade weapons, armor, tools and accessory upgrades. Players can purchase them from NPCs of item upgraders for a variety of currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased, it can be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor with a button, which will show an item's preview when it is upgraded in the event that the player has enough materials.
The cost of upgrading is based on the item slot and current item level and the weapon's price is higher than gloves or bracers for example. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Some upgrades give discounts on Flightstones. After an item has been upgraded to a certain amount it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.
Many locations offer Item level Upgrade upgraders, including the main Island and some outposts. The NPCs offer an upgrade coupon and a chance to obtain a new recipe. The discount for upgrading increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased if players finish certain achievements or quests.
Unlike Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II is no item upgrader available at the start of Icewind Dale. Instead the NPCs that can be used to upgrade are acquired via several methods that are both an improvement and a drawback.
In Season 3, several new features have been added to the upgrade system. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a certain item level for a particular armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level will be less expensive, even when they are part of an entirely different set of gear.
The discount applies to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is reduced also, but is only available after certain milestones have been reached.
Crests
Players have a number of options when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an item that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specialized and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1 and are available in four ranks.
The first thing to remember is that crests can only be spent on gear of a specific rank, and each rank has its own requirements for upgrading. The simplest and most straightforward upgrade items process costs just 15 crests while the most complex may require as many as 20 crests, based on the type of equipment that is being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through working through content that is of the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and engaging in outdoor activities for gear of lower tiers, raids or dungeons with all difficulty for items of higher tier, or Mythic+ dungeons or heroic raid bosses for endgame gear. The crests can then be exchanged with an item upgrader such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and paths.
Using these new currencies isn't too difficult however, the system will introduce a few changes to the overall upgrade process. For example, once an item reaches the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This change allows players to upgrade their gear to the highest possible ilvl on all of their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.
It's also crucial to choose crests wisely, as they have only one purpose. For instance it's a good idea to make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests on the top equipment available and then save Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you're planning to create. This is particularly relevant for rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character which can only be eligible to take advantage of the account-wide discount if all of the slots are filled with top-quality gear.
