WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades can give you an increase in specific statistics. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by 3. A random extra substat is also boosted alongside each upgrade.

Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless it has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like the eth Titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the need to roll for a perfect model.

Recycle Points

The item upgrading upgrader allows players to upgrade gear to a higher level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any kind of armor or weapons. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can be applied to enchantments.

The upgrader can be found in all major cities, and can be accessed anytime to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended to visit the upgrader at least once every couple of weeks to keep your equipment up-to-date.

The cost of upgrading will vary based on the current item level of the gear being upgraded, but will always be cheaper than purchasing new equipment from other sources. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item, it will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used for tools, armor, weapon, and accessory upgrades. Players can purchase them from NPCs of item upgraders for a variety of currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor. button, which will show a preview of the Best item upgrade at its next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.

The cost of upgrades varies based on the item slot and current item level as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than gloves or bracers, for instance. Each step costs 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with some upgrades having a discount to reduce the cost of the Flightstones or the crests used. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain degree it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.

Many locations have upgraders for their items in addition to the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade coupon and a possibility of getting an entirely new recipe. The discount for upgrading increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players complete certain achievements or quests.

Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II, there is no upgrader for items at the start of Icewind Dale. The NPCs who are able to facilitate upgrades are available only through a variety means. This is both a benefit and a drawback.

In Season 3, several new features were added to the upgrade system. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a particular item level for a particular armor slot, upgrading additional items to that same item level will cost less, even when they are part of another set of gear.

The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is account-wide. The amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is reduced as well, but is only available when certain milestones are achieved.

Crests

Players have a variety of options for upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an item that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more special and are used for specific upgrades to the level of an item upgrader mod (linked resource site). Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.

The first thing to note is that crests can only be used on equipment that is of a particular rank, and that every rank has different requirements for upgrading. The simplest and simplest upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complex upgrade can require up to 20 crests, contingent on the type or gear being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by working through content that is of the appropriate level, which involves walking around and performing outdoor activities for lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons with all difficulty for items of higher tier or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses and dungeons for gear that is used in the endgame. The crests can later be exchanged at an item upgrades upgrader NPC, like Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken, for the appropriate upgrade paths and steps.

The use of these currencies isn't that difficult, but the system does introduce some changes to the overall upgrade process. For instance, once a piece of equipment reaches the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is intended to allow players to upgrade their gear up to the highest ilvl possible on all their characters rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.

Another notable change is that crests have one usage and it's crucial to use them properly. For instance, it's a good idea utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests on the top equipment you have, and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you're planning to make. This is particularly true for items such as trinkets and rings that take up several slots. The account-wide discount will only be applicable if all slots on the character are filled with top-quality gear.
